“I've been twice in the last month - first time by accident as we were driving by and I spotted it so stopped. Sunday lunch we had the set menu and it was great. We had to add desert in just to try out the menu. Enough options to sample some of the menu. We had a friend in town 2 weeks later...”
This is a joke travel insurance. If something happened to you overseas, they will not pay but ask you to pay first and they may give a reimbursement. To be reimbursed, you need to bring original copy of your passport, receipts and other documents. How do you do that if you are not in Ha noi or Hochiminh city? I tried to post them once, they said they have not received the document. That is it. You can not claim now. If you are admitted to a hospital for several days, I am sure that it is likely that you can not afford to pay in advance. I believe that it is cheap but useless insurance for overseas travel.
This is a provisional 5-star rating - the inherent irony of getting insurance is you hope you never have to use it, so I haven't had to try to claim yet.
I was referred to this company some time ago by someone on this site - the bare-bones insurance option offered by my school was unattractive to me and I wanted to check out other options. The women at the front desk spoke English and gave me a big packet of information in (almost perfect) English.
Fast forward to a few weeks later, after mulling over the policy options. They have five levels of basic policy, with increasing area of coverage with each level. We got policy "C" which covers "Asian Countries Excluding Japan and Hong Kong." If we get really sick, we can be medically evacuated to one of these countries.
There are also extra options - we chose "Out-Patient Expenses," which means we're covered $50 per visit for something not serious enough for hospitalization (X-rays, crutches, etc.) The other option is pregnancy and childbirth, something I don't want to deal with.
The prices are quite affordable - ours, for a year, was $463 (each). Their assistance center is SOS International Hospital.
