Easy to work with .. Know what u want... Provide knowledgable agents even if they are not mr. San himself..found us a great house and we will use them again and recommend them to others we know. Even 9 months after the deal is done, still can call and SMS mr. San anytime to get some feedback and service. Friends of mine are being service 2 years later.. That's just the kind of guy he is. Other agents are so pushy you literally have to silence your phones when they keep calling...that was my first mistake.. We look forward using mr. San's services again or his people!

Mr San at Viet Long Housing helped us find our long term apartment using the internet from abroad.

He was very helpful and communicated promptly via email. He provided us with the phone numbers of other expats in the apartment block for us to validate the condition and quality of the place.

There was some stuffing around as the owner did not want short term rental and there was some 'off again, on again' negotiations but eventually after we signed a 12 month lease we got the property and for $100USD less per month.

The apartment is brand new and in a very nice quiet spot by the lake, just close enough to the expat shops of Xuan Dieu but not surrounded by expats (except for everyone in our apartment block!).

Happy with the service.

I'm a pain in the butt when it comes to where I will live. I have an exact list of requirements and I do not like to waste my time. Luckily, I met Miss Hien through this company. She's young, but quite knowledgeable and not at all pushy. I found a great place, she arrived on time to show it, answered all my questions, and was very friendly.

She also let me know that she was on my side right away, making suggestions about what I needed to clarify with the landlord. What impressed me most was that her colleague, Mr. Hien (yep, same name, but different tone) returned 600k when I overpaid the deposit. I'm all thumbs with bricks of VN money - he made sure I paid only the correct amount.

Overall, honesty, great service, and professionalism - definitely recommended.

Viet Long Housing are certainly no better than most of the other rubbish agents out there in this city. My experience of this company is very different to the other reviews. Clearly Mr San is only interested in letting properties in West Lake and Ciputra and only gives his 5 star treatment to people looking there. In my dealings with him, he could never be bothered to return either my phone calls or email. We were looking at down town only, and were shown around places by a teenage school girl, who was on her first day in the job! We found somewhere that we really liked, but the Viet Long school girl screwed up negotiations with the landlord, which we were really disappointed about, and Mr San was not interested in helping to resolve the situation. Neither was he remotely interested in finding us somewhere else to live, so we gave up with them in the end and moved agents. Overall a pretty bad experience.

Well! We are not sure this man Jatstok is an Expat or just one of our competitor agent. There is no school girls in our company as we have all experienced agents working here. Though it`s difficult to make every one happy in a certain business, and for our business in particular, no one is capable of working in all over the city. But at least we don`t provide incorrect advertisements, if someone give us a request list while we don`t have any suitable property for that, we will say \"Sorry sir/madam! at this moment we don`t have any of your request\", we won`t waste your time.Be assured that if you have found a property, we will try to get the lease done fast and in a mutual way for both landlord and Tenant. Imagine, in this case, if we try to screw up the deal; first, we lose our time, second, who pay us for that? - No, there is no reason should we do the trick.

Us: NZ couple wanting to live in Hanoi for at least 6 months.

Our requirement:
Nice 1 or 2 bedroom apartment close to Hoan Kiem. 6 month lease. Preferred budget around $500 per month.

The agent:
Because we weren't looking for a super expensive apartment we were allocated one of the junior staff (same as what happens in AUS and NZ).
It was Nhan's second month on the job after graduating from Hanoi uni with an English degree.
She was cute as a button, and very keen to be helpful to us.
She was always on time when we arranged to meet, and didn't show us any apartments that were way off the mark.
She showed us seven apartments in all before we decided (we knew all along I think) that the first one was in fact perfect and that we didn't need to look at anymore properties just for the sake of it.
She always answered our questions promptly via email, text message, and in person.
All paperwork was handled efficiently and transparently with all docs written in Viet and Eng side by side.
We changed the move-in date by a week (because we were sick of hotels!) and she arranged this easily with the landlord.

Result:
A lovely, clean, secure, bright 1 bedroom apartment on Tran Phu (Old Quarter end) with views to the park. Good shower, attractive wooden floors, nice kitchen, corner couch, lots of wardrobe space in a large bedroom. Free washing machine upstairs. Cable TV, water, net, cleaner included. 6 month lease @ $550 per mth.

Overall experience:
Couldn't have been easier!
Nhan was very helpful, friendly, and inspired trust.
I would definitely recommend anyone coming to Hanoi (and looking at the lower price range) to give her a call.
