Came here a few times with my friends and was upset yesterday with the service. When my friend was having his last piece of pizza, the waitress came and grabbed our dishes to our surprise with a really unpleasant look on her face. The guard outside also grumbled to me (Vietnamese, not my friend, who is a Westerner) since I left my bike there to go for a walk (I don't know what I did for my people to treat me so badly in comparison with foreigners). Pasta here is really salty. Tried once and I wouldn't order it again. I willl never come back to Mediterraneo again

The manager is an alcoholic who is full of himself and belittles his own customers behind their backs. In addition, I've seen him lie barefaced and he served me red wine that was chilled ridiculously! The two times I went there I was forced to listen to him complaining about how people reviewed his restaurant badly on the internet. He was virtually frothing at the mouth! This was a great place in 2011 when the owner pissed off and let an Australian woman run it, but as long as he's about, I am not going back. I hope he reads this review and takes notice. What an asshole.

Went here once on a weekday for lunch (only 1 or 2 tables full), with my boyfriend. We sat upstairs, and the service was generally ok. Really nice atmosphere, nice and clean etc.
Boyfriend wanted the steak, which happened to be charged by the kilo (something ridiculous like $40 a kilo). We asked for enough for 1 person (just one piece), and how much would that be. She said that we have to buy one kilo of steak. We continued to talk with her, thinking this is a language misunderstanding, but she insisted many times, that you can't buy less than a kilo. I don't know what happened, if she was totally confused, or she really thought we had to buy a kilo, even as we were telling her how ridiculous buying a kilo of meat for lunch is.
Anyway, we ordered other food, and it was good.
Not that impressed by our strange experience there though.

Every once in a while, against my better judgement, I go out for western food. Mediterraneo succeeds only in living up to my very low expectations of eating foreign food in Hanoi. For our twenty bucks (no alcohol) we got a table that was nicely cooled by fans and air con, a decent ham, mushroom and cheese pizza (ham, not prosciutto as advertised), a good tiramisu and a terrible pasta.
Management was non-existent except to greet us as we came and left, standing in the exact same place both times. If they had visited the kitchen maybe the pasta wouldn't have been as salty, and we would have been served at the same time, we had finished eating when the pasta finally arrived. If management had walked upstairs they might have noticed that we spent more than 15 minutes sorting out the mistakes on the bill.
If you go there, order pizza and desert, and check your bill.
