Upcoming Special Events at TNH Hanoi
  • Sunday, May 27
    starting at 4:00 pm
    - 11:00 pm : Meetup
TNH Vietnam Pool Party Meet Up - by TNH Hanoi @ Keangnam Landmark Garden The TNH Meet Up is happening in grand style on Sunday, May 27th. We'll be taking over the sprawling Keangnam Landmark Garden space with its large swimming pool, outdoor lounge, air-conditioned poolside restaurant, and plush horticulture. It's a venue unlike any other in Hanoi, and it's all ours for one very long afternoon and evening. From 4pm to 7pm, free beer provided by Coors Light will be flowing for all TNH members in attendance. Make sure you and all your friends are registered for the site and head out to the Keangnam. From 5pm to 10pm, the Synergy Music Production crew of Vaughan and Luke will be on the decks, poolside, for the partying masses. Food and drink specials will follow the free flow beer (after 7pm). As you can see from the photo, the space is truly huge. Families are welcome, as the kids will have a great time all afternoon. We do expect big crowds for the event, and things are likely to get lively as the evening wears on. If you have kids you plan to bring out, we recommend you come early. To get there, simply head out to the southwest part of the city and look for the largest building around. If you're on a motorbike or driving a car, head around back. The venue has its own parking at the back of the building. If you're in a taxi, you can get dropped off around back or at the shopping center entrance in front. If you're dropped off in the front, just walk through to find the fun around back. If you're planning to swim, be sure to bring appropriate swimwear. There are large changing facilities and lockers, but with the huge crowds on the day, we expect that the available lockers will be taken pretty quickly. Plan accordingly. Mark your calendars. Spread the word. See you there.

Five stars. I am easy and it's the only "game" in town.

Kinda like the new format.

However miss having the number of responses to the questions displayed.

I also note the the count on the number of props is either very slow or downright inaccurate.

Dear "Size-O" = Olivier = Fabio83=Fatcat Bar = "BabyLove"=Owner of Link Hanoi too?

Whatever your name is, you just don't seem to get the point of the New Hanoian. You also don't seem to get that the reviews you see here are to be ONLY genuine reviews by genuine customers.

Business owners spruking their own businesses, tooting their own horns under various aliases, noms de plumes, aka's, sockpuppets etc...is frowned upon, easy to spot, and held up to ridicule.

Je vous accuse, monsieur.

It's a place where ANYONE can enter a spot.

Your business, the minute you open your doors to the public, is in the public domain. If you don't like it, transform your venue into a private, membership-only club, not open to the general public. But for the moment, you are a public entity, open to the general public, that any of us could stumble into. It's best that we are informed of the places into which we might stumble and it is our right to inform each other of what is out there.

It is our "right", as the "general public", to warn each other about places which may or may not suck. And to share the good places with each other too. Your only "right" is to provide great service or not.

The New Hanoian is where we inform each other. The management of the site does not write reviews or decide which venues are posted.

We decide that. All of us. Any of us. Nobody asked Uncle Ho if his mausoleum could be listed here. It is.

To my knowledge, no venue has ever been removed from here unless it has disappeared off the face of Hanoi.

Let's suppose the owners of the site responded to your request to delete your bar from this site.

I would post it again in a New York minute, or Onemore would. Or vic05 or Grant or somebody we haven't heard from yet. And people would give you the reviews you deserve, good or bad.

Instead of creating sock-puppets to write fake reviews, you should spend your time at your businesses making them desirable places for us to drop some dong. If we like your place, we will say so. We really will.

The New Hanoian is arguably the first place most business people think to advertise their business because it is the first place most visitors and foreign residents refer to when looking for anything-- be it a drink, a meal, a home, a bookstore, a bottle of maple syrup, a motorcycle, a maid or a date.

Your doors are open. We have the right to comment upon what is beyond those doors.

The New Hanoian is a useful tool for living in Hanoi. It is an advertising tool for businesses who are legitimate and understand that we are not stupid.

It is a market place for things and stuff and jobs and houses. It is a gathering place. It is a place to find friends.

It is a place to make, on occasion, enemies.

It is a community.

You became part of the community when you flung open the doors of your bar. You became part of the community when you put your "link" website on line.

You got caught posting reviews about your own businesses using pseudonyms.

Don't cry. Just be a good community member in the future. If your bar rocks, believe me, we will forgive you and then sing your praises here ourselves.

That's what the New Hanoian is.

@New Hanoian: Thanks for everything you've done for me over the last 3 years. Life would be very different here without you.

In a word, awesome. I honestly don't know what I would do if this website didn't exist. A wealth of information that is unparalleled to anything I have seen in many other Asian cities. Downsides? Somewhat strict and counter-intuitive rules regarding posting questions. That and a pool of smug users that look for any opportunity to put you down/criticize your posting(s). Not sure why... Maybe something to do with a lack of affection as a child or something...

Despite this, I love this site and have to give praise to the people who run it. Keep up the good work guys!

Size-0 is 100% correct. "New hanoians is absolutly not free expression website"

Duh. It's the internet. You don't own it. Don't like it? Complain to someone who really cares. When you find that individual please write a review.

3 stars only because NewHanoian doesn't make me breakfast or wash my clothes. Which is pretty slack. Lift your game!

Woo... Something smells like politics in here! :)))

First thing first, 5 stars for this website - rating is the first purpose, right? As a real Hanoian, I thank this website for giving me, as well as my other Hanoian friends, more knowledge about our Hanoi.

About the reviews, it really is kinda personal. We see things, feel things differently. For example, I hate donuts coz hell they're sweet!!! But lots of people I know love those donuts and the reason? Coz they're damn sweet!!!

Each person's review is based on his/her taste and his/her experience. That "experience" thing is really tricky. Of course sometimes that place really is a scam. But sometimes, you got to the restaurant when the chef is in his/her bad day. Come on we're not saints! We all have bad days. Bad food as the consequence. The next day, it's terrific! Imagine you got there in a bad day with a huge group? My goodness! Bad luck for the restaurant!!! That's why we should be careful with our reviews and wait on others' reviews to really judge a place/service, not to mention something is bad to you but it's good to others.

In Vietnamese, we call everything "culture". We have culture of eating, culture of communicating, etc. Please have a "culture of posting". Obviously, when you had a very bad experience about a place, you must give it a 1 star. How could you give 3 stars to a place that ripped you off? However, you don't have to pour your anger out by using ugly language. Whatever you do, please remember that you're better than your anger. And for god sakes, you may not like that stupid place but someone else does! That's when someone should say "Meh!" at your review. (That function is hilarious BTW... LOL and I HATE IT!!! Worst part is I can't fail it!!! :))))

And I know 1 thing 100% sure, sadly, is that we have hateful people everywhere. There are people who have problems with almost everything. Some people have fun in confronting other people, or in pissing other people off. Solution in such situations are either to ignore that one or simply delete his/her hateful reviews.

Always do a thorough search before posting a question. Chances are you'll find what you wanted to know and at the same time avoid a baptism by fire.
