“A restaurant with a strange name in a strange place. "Tivoli Cafe" and yet there is no Italian food. Coffee, I guess? And the Hanoi Club is just odd. Is it a hotel? A country club? Social club? And yet, the food here is actually good and cheap. Seen a foreign chef milling about. Looke...”
It's all true - immediate, efficient, friendly service and greenstuff and noodles delivered to the table ad lib. I am a long-time fan of the notorious Cha Ca La Vong on Cha Ca street, but have to admit that you get more food more quickly and for a better price here than at that quirky establishment.
The fish is not quite as delicious and the dish is slightly less oily (a minor fault in my opinion) but overall this is not only a bargain, it's a droolingly good bargain.
I really recommend it and, more tellingly, my picky-eater friend really recommends it too so get down there and stuff yourself on cha ca and mam tom.
Nothing wrong with this restaurant. Its gud. Better than some places. If you mean its better than the famous Cha Ca La Vong, it is. If you mean its better than Lao Ngu Cha Ca, it isn't. This place is turning into a cha ca urban myth. It's across from burger king. Expect the myth to grow.
The better place is close by.
Giang Vo turns into Lang Ha. Lang Ha intersects with Thai Ha. Lao Ngu Cha Ca is on Thai Ha, a Betty Davis kiss from the corner. I've been to both places within twenty four hours. ANd I know what fresh fish tastes like.
