Nothing wrong with this restaurant. Its gud. Better than some places. If you mean its better than the famous Cha Ca La Vong, it is. If you mean its better than Lao Ngu Cha Ca, it isn't. This place is turning into a cha ca urban myth. It's across from burger king. Expect the myth to grow.
The better place is close by.
Giang Vo turns into Lang Ha. Lang Ha intersects with Thai Ha. Lao Ngu Cha Ca is on Thai Ha, a Betty Davis kiss from the corner. I've been to both places within twenty four hours. ANd I know what fresh fish tastes like.
It's all true - immediate, efficient, friendly service and greenstuff and noodles delivered to the table ad lib. I am a long-time fan of the notorious Cha Ca La Vong on Cha Ca street, but have to admit that you get more food more quickly and for a better price here than at that quirky establishment.
The fish is not quite as delicious and the dish is slightly less oily (a minor fault in my opinion) but overall this is not only a bargain, it's a droolingly good bargain.
I really recommend it and, more tellingly, my picky-eater friend really recommends it too so get down there and stuff yourself on cha ca and mam tom.
Last Friday night I shared a meal here with a friend of mine. I can say without hesitation that it was a delicious meal.
The food was fresh and served immediately.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is very clean. Judging from the numbers of people eating there it is a popular restaurant.
We had beer with our meal and the bill was 120,000VND each.
I certainly will be returning.
I really like cha ca, saw the positive reviews, and figured I had to check this place out for myself. It is as advertised. The quality of the snakehead fish is very good, the vegetables and dill were clean and good quality, the dish was not over-oiled which, as others here have stated, seems to be common with cha ca. This is a pretty small, clean and modern restaurant with good service and very fair prices. Best cha ca I've had in HN, I'll be going back for sure. If you like cha ca, you should check this place out.
I'm not a big fan of fresh water fish so when my wife suggested Cha Ca on Giang Vo I hesitated, but agreed. Happily, I can say that this is a good place to eat. They have only one thing on the menu, snakeshead fish. You cook the fish (don't worry about bones, we didn't find any) tabletop in a skillet with in butter and oil with some green onion and dill, unsalted peanuts and greens. You get sides of bun, soy-sauce and fresh herbs. We passed on the fish and shrimp sauce, but that doesn’t mean you won’t like it. We drank cha da. The place is really clean. The servers smiled. No children (what kid likes fish?) The noise level was low. Nobody smoking. 260,000 for the two of us. It's a place you should try...
