I am sure renting a bike here is okay.
But I have taken a Honda in several times for the same problems. And they can't seem to get it fixed.
But he managed to charge me just fine. And I got my bike back with a flat tire and he wouldn't take care of it.
Plus I took my wife's bike in and he did not do half of the work that he claimed to have done. I.e. He said he cleaned the carburetor and when I looked at it later it definitely hadn't been done.
I DO NOT recommend taking your bike here for repairs. Next time I will go with VIP.

I've been using these guys for nearly a year now and this review was long due.
This is what I have been using them for:
1) Minsk repairs: I had my Minsk repaired a number of times and they always did an excellent job. Phuong is a skilled mechanic and was able to restore my bike to its former glory on a number of occasions. Prices & quality of repaires definitely better that what they used to be at Cuong's before they stopped dealing with Minsks.
2) Bike respray: I had both my Minsk and Honda 67 fully resprayed and in both cases the paint job was carried out pretty well. They smoothed out all rough edges on the 67 before respraying it and made it look new! I ended up paying 1mil for the Minsk and 2mil for the Honda67. Highly recommended.
3) Bike shipping: I had my Minsk shipped to Danang for 30$ for me to ride it back to Hanoi. I simply dropped it at their shop and they organized everything. Once arrived in Danang I simply had to collect it from the station and enjoy the ride!
I also had a few friends renting bikes from them and all went smooth although I though prices were a bit high compared to competition.
Overall I'm very impressed with the quality of their service. The owners are friendly, polite and try helping you in every way they can. I can be very demanding at times when it comes to bikes and these guys have always tried to accomodate my sometimes ridiculous requests.
The only negative thing I can think of is that the repair shop is actually located 30k away from the main shop so the mechanic isn't always in the shop in the old quarter. If you need any serious/urgent repair it'll take some time as the mechanic will have to come over, take the bike to his other shop, fix it and then bring it back. I had so many lousy repairs done on my bike from other places that I don't mind the waiting any more and know that they will always do a great job so that's no real problem to me.

I have been renting a bike from the wonderful Mr. Hop for many months now.
When I first arrived in HaNoi, my employer introduced and recommended the shop to me, and I'm glad they did.
In addition to being an experienced motorcycle rider and skilled mechanic, Hop also happens to be an incredibly kind and patient person. He is direct, but very kind and has worked hard to accommodate some of my life's recent oddities.
For longer term rentals like my 2010 Wave he has offered a very fair price, and includes maintenance checks as well.
Their large inventory of bikes is a few km away from the Old Quarter shop, so it can be best to start a conversation with Hop via phone or email to explain what you're looking for to ensure they have several good examples to show you when you arrive at the shop.
We all know how frequently frustrating and malevolently maddening Hanoi businesses can sometimes be, so 'tis a welcome discovery to find somebody like Hop who is not only highly skilled at his business, but a fantastic human being as well.

I usually rent some offroad japanese bikes from them, Honda SL, Honda AX1, Honda XL, Honda Degree... I always had very good services and never any problem with the bikes.
I recommend this place, the bonus is that Hop (the manager) is a former motorcycling tour guide and he can give advices on places to go and roads to take.
A good address.
