Ky Y has seen better days. This is one of a few older Japanese places that is still on my radar, but it takes a licking salt to get through the mediocre service and the half-thought-out meals.

I do not want to put people off trying Ky Y. Just remember that it has slowly evolved to suit a local palate. 9-10 years ago this was a 'real' sushi joint. Now I would say it feels a bit more like a baroque Vina-sushi lunch diner. Beyond the decor and the stylized drapes there is little authenticity to be had.

At least they serve a bit of ice cream or fruit at the end of the meal. Makes my kid smile.

Just came back from dinner this evening. The quality of the food was pretty good - sushi (both tuna and salmon)was nice. The price was a bit much for us though - we ordered most of our standard dishes but the price was significantly higher than we were used to at other Japanese places in Hanoi. Nice private room though, so that has value as well.

We may go back but the price will make it an occasional event. As well the quality wasn't so much better than more affordable options.

This is my favourite place for sushi in Ha Noi (although still working on trying everywhere else when I can afford it!)
I love sitting downstairs around the bar, absorbing the atmosphere and it feels just like Japan.
Sushi is great, good quality and perfect size portions. Great choice of sake. Fun and friendly service.
Amazing green tea and often tasty and unsual complimentary ice cream for dessert.

Las time I had dinner there with my friends. The sushi wasn't great as it wasn't firmly rolled and each piece was to big to chew.

However the pancake was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!

in my opinion, it's one of best Japanese restaurants in Ha Noi, foods is quite good, service good, it the reason why there are many customer come there.
one small complaint is: we have to wait so long. OK because of too many customer at that moment, but,waiting alway make customer feel uncomfortably
