Does anyone know if you can bring a pet cat into Vietnam on a TOURIST visa?

We're moving to Hanoi in late-summer but would like to come early (before work visas take effect) and bring our cat to stay for the interim.

I'm getting conflicting info from different sources so was curious if anyone has done this successfully or knows the ACTUAL regulations!

Thanks so much,
Jeffrey

Hi Jemiga

Yes you can bring pets on a tourist Visa. We successfully brought along 2 dogs from our native country on a tourist VISA. It's even possible to do it on your own without involving a pet travel agency. This is the path we followed but got totally messed aout by the airlines and in the end just got a pet travel agency to arrange everything. It lessens much of the complications. Good luck

Please reconsider if you love your pet!

Hey thanks. Word from wife's employer -- after they spoke to the big shots in Vnam Immig -- is that we cannot bring our cat in on a tourist visa. No worries. It's going to be awesome. We love our fur baby. Work visa in process.
