Post to Vietnam

I lost my original degree certificate and didn't have time to get a replacement before I came to Vietnam. My university sent the replacement to my old address, and I've got someone to post it out to Hanoi.

After doing some reading online it appears that sending anything to Vietnam isn't advised. Reading lots of stories of valuable items being stolen, lost, taking months to show up, etc.

Feeling a bit stupid 'cause obviously it's pretty valuable and my university can only provide 1 replacement. I also need it ASAP to start the work permit application.

What are the chances of it arriving?

It's being posted from the UK by the way, if that makes a difference.

Alert your landlord and neighbours in case the address is vague.

I think the problem is with packages, not printed matter. I'm betting it will arrive ok, but postal addresses here are so strange! good luck

It took about 4 months for a DVD placed in an envelope to arrive from Croatia.

Well i went to the local VNpost sorting office and found everyone asleep. Woke someone up and was asked for a number so she could ring me when they had it.

Didnt have high hopes, but anyway, it arrived after a few days! So the domestic postal service aint as bad as everyone makes out, though i would still be hesitant to send anything of material value through VNpost. Will likely use a courier like dhl in the future for any docs too just for peace of mind.

Thanks for all your responses.
