When bringing ice cream home from the supermarket on my motorbike on a hot day, will it stay colder longer in the under-seat compartment or in a bag hanging from a hook? For you fact-oriented scientific types, assume a 1 km ride on a Honda Lead in 35 degree weather. Any good tips for keeping it cold? Thanks and have fun answering.
This country is a nice country. Unfortunately, many locals have been talking about the bad chemicals in the food that farmers have used to keep the fruit, vegetables, and meat fresh. Additionally, lots of food is being imported from China. One case said that some chicken eaten today is being imported from either the 1960s or 1970s. One case stated that they have chemicals to turn pork into beef. Another case stated some are suffering from sickness and death due to the harmful chemicals in the...
Though I am sure about moving to Vietnam this summer to teach English and travel for the following year, I haven't yet made up my mind if I want to live in one of the big cities or smaller town like Da Nang. I'll have time to travel around before settling. My question is a simple one: is the job market about as good in a smaller town like Da Nang as in HCMC? Hi all, Got some weddings to do and need a few items. I am looking for cake mix and ice cream mix in large sizes and quantities. Not sure where to get them. Thanks!
Hello campers, I live in Ha Tinh but I want to get hold of some gravy granules in Hanoi somewhere. Any suggestions. Size of packet and price? I'm desperate for a roast dinner- cold turkey in fact-that's a pun. Thank you. Darryn.
Hi, anyone knows where I can buy soft shell crab in Hanoi? Thanks.
Friends who visit from overseas sometimes ask about the eggs on sale in the markets and shops here and say they suppose they're from free-range chickens. I suspect most of the eggs are not from free-range chickens but really have no idea, and lately I've been wondering about the matter a lot. Does anyone know how eggs are generally produced here?
Hey guys:) I am looking for a flour to bake breads at home. The thing which I can easily find in a local supermarket cannot much help me to bake yummy home made bakery. Anyone know where can I find the French one? or imported one? but not too expensive? Tks!!
This is a bag of special corn flour, but not the small boxes of corn flour (or corn starch) that you see here. I intended to buy some while in North America, but the need for several new pairs of shoes out-weighed (literally) the need for fresh home-made torillas...now I'm going to burn up all that leather looking for Maseca anyway!
For the past six months, I've been purchasing a German brand of muesli cereal called HAHNE which was fruit sweetened, non-sugary and VERY HIGH roughage. It has disappeared from the shelves of Fivimart and Haspro. Does anyone know where to find it these days (it is in clear cellophane wrapping --- no box --- and German "signage" on the front of it.)
... is TNH's Q&A forum. If you've got a question about life in Hanoi that you think you should pose to someone in the know, here is the place to do it.
