It's funny when things work out so well and even more amusing at the ever-busy Quan An Ngon.
I had to make a reservation for 29 people - daunting because I'd never booked for that many before and my father specifically requested that we ate there.
I called two days in advance and was asked to pre-order some food from the menu that would be emailed to me. The email didn't come until a follow-up call the next day so I chose some items, crossed my fingers, gave directions to my father's group and hoped they'd be able to fend for themselves until I arrived.
Imagine my surprise when I turned up 20 minutes late to find the party seated in a semi-private room, with many of the dishes I'd pre-ordered already happily consumed, with no guarantee to the restaurant that our group would even show up!
The follow-up orders came very promptly, which has always been my experience there. The staff were relaxed and smiling, another thing that I have seen as being the norm. A smuggled in birthday cake was happily cut up and served on plates for our large party.
Yep tourists love this place but so many locals do too. I'd like to count myself as one of them.
