Xôi gấc

Xôi (sticky rice) is a popular food around Asia, which becomes especially sticky when steamed and provides a greater amount of lipid, compared to normal white rice. Xôi gấc (“gac sticky rice”) has a sweet flavour and a distinctively red color made by dyeing it with quả gấc (Momordica cochinchinensis). It’s usually made for traditional Vietnamese festivals or weddings as symbol of luck. Sometimes, mung bean is added as stuffing.
