Flew from Da Nang returning to Saigon with an infant, at check-in Vietjet staff did not told us my laptop bag is counted as 1 piece despite putting a tag on it, we were pulled aside at the gate after 1.5 hour of delay just prior to boarding and being told we have to pay for the extra piece, extremely annoying as my son was sick and was crying incessantly at the time.

The numerous staffs that were there shown no compassion so I made my displeasure known why are they doing this now, when they could have told me at the check-in counter and told my wife that are just targeting tourists because they know we don't put up a fight and will just pay in the end which we did.

So I end up paying and keep the laptop bag with me sending the other piece to the hull so that we can board the flight and behold when we reached Saigon my hand held luggage were doused with fish sauce no doubt due to petty, unprofessional vietjet staffs at Da Nang. Will never fly with them again ever, they are an absolute disgrace to vietnamese living abroad.

Initially I thought Vietjetair may be alright to try out, but boy was I wrong! If one character of your name is mispelt and you need to get it fixed it apparently costs 1 way ticket price just to have the name fixed!! What a rip off! No flexibility whatsoever! For such costs I should have just flown with VN Airlines. Less hassle, no need to pay for check in luggage. No hassle about name misspelt! Overall they will try and squeeze any money out of you on top of the air fairs to justify the cheap advertised fare. I will NEVER fly with them again! How disappointing.

I recently flew return Hanoi-Dalat. The fares are cheap but you get what you pay for.

My return flight was delayed by 4 hours. I was informed by text message the afternoon before and tried to phone the call centre to make alternative arrangements. It took about 15 calls and 3 hours before I was able to speak to someone. The woman tried her best to help but seemed ill informed on the flight's status and spoke poor English. When I arrived at the airport the flight was delayed further and there was no announcement/explanation. When I went back out to the vietjet counter the woman was unhelpful and could only tell me the plane hadn't arrived yet.

I would only recommend this airline if you're very laid back and flexible your plans. If you actually want to get somewhere, pay the extra for better service.

No half star option to rate, so I have to rate 1 star. Anyway, their service was terrible. I thought they are newcomer, they should differentiate themselves by providing excellent services. But it was not. I had a little trouble with the ticket, calling their call-center and the guy answering the phone call talked to me in a very impolite manner and no sense of customer service, he actually raised his voice to somehow threatening me that I was the wrong person, not their system. First and last time flying with them.

Booking: the website is dodgy and random. Use a travel agent or call the hotline.

Flight: dodgy rickety bus (Saigon Air Services) from HCMC terminal to the plane. Flights actually quite good - mostly left on time & arrived on time.

Service: Staff friendly enough but a long way from the promoted service levels... Can purchase food and souvenirs on board.

Staff Uniform: Designer should be shot for making the women wear such appalling outfits. Simply hideous! Probably contribute to dour service from many of the ladies!

Planes: A320s all around. Clean, seem in good condition. Space between seats very slim - try to book exit rows when you can (12 seats per plane).

Fares: Cheap.

Schedules: Click here http://www.vietjetair.com/Sites/Web/en-US/NewsDetail/flight-schedule/%20351/vietjetair-flight-shedule and scroll to the bottom of the section for latest schedules. Six-seven flights HAN-HCMC every day. From Feb 10th, 2013 flying HCMC-BKK.

Good option for commuter flights and for tourists doing the north-south hop. Flights mostly full - cheap airfares making it accessible for many more people n Vietnam. High incidence of loud children - bring suitable music/media equipment to block it out.

Update Feb 2013
My last few VietJet flights have all been delayed, predominantly ex-HCMC. Seems an all too regular occurrence now. Book flights earlier than you think you need and you'll be right.
