This must be a unique site.
It is located in a busy residential area of crowded alleys, shops and homes. It takes some searching to find the 'lake' (more of a pond, really) but the journey there contributes to the interest.
Some reviewers seem to think that the wreck lacks drama - I experienced a genuine shock on stumbling across this remnant of 'The American War', left undisturbed in the middle of a thriving district.
Search it out and contemplate the events of that still-recent past and your own place in the city today.

So, it's a piece of a B52 sticking out of a lake. Don't expect anything great, and it's exactly what you imagine it to be. Not worth going far out of your way to see, but one of those parts of Vietnam worth taking a look at if you're passing through the area.

It's tricky to get to via Doi Can. Easier to get there from Hoang Hoa Tham, and just go down lane 55. Also, Google Maps and some tourist maps say that it's a lake south of where it actually is. While there are lakes there, they lack any visible parts of military aircraft (as most lakes do).

I've been there when making tours with Urban discovery. it is hard to find this place and because of a market nearby, it is so busy. Anyway, it is good for newbie to Hanoi. take a look

This place is pretty cool for a picture, or if you are a history buff but that is about it.

It is also kinda surreal to see the plane crashed in the middle of a bustling neighborhood, and watching the locals ignore it.

this place is in my neighborhood, and is a regular passing point on my dog walks. would i specifically hunt THIS SITE down to see it? Maybe. Maybe not. But, it's worth finding the lake, then wandering around the alleys between Doi Can and Hoang Hoa Tham for the sheer density of people and wide range of houses, shops and people you'll see. Take an hour and just wander...
