I stayed here when I first moved to Hanoi.I have to strongly disagree with the previous reviewer. My experience was quite the opposite. They were totally pleasant and helpful ( yes sometimes they charge $0.7 for their services ) but I was more than happy to give them that tiny amount than going out to the street and let somebody else rip me off.Does the previous reviewer think that they should have all their needs taken care of for free? I also travel around the world and I always have to pay a full night charge if I want to check in early including China.Dont let the odd bad review turn you away. This is a decent place.

I am so curious who wrote these reviews because it was the opposite of what I had experience. I reserved the room and came in early morning but I was already charge a day for that. means I paid 3 days when my actual stay is 2, I have been all over the world but not in Vietnam , I paid but my heart was not happy. Another is when I was asking if they can move us to a bigger room.. the pregnant cranky owner answer is NO... she has no manner at all. Also, you think they are very helpful? In each help they got your dollar... I bought a phone card, which charged me 65,ooo when actual you can buy it 50,000. I just think staying in this hotel for three days is a waste of time and money...I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT. As a visitor, I suggest that before anyone puts a review here about how nice people are.. when they give you service for free that is nice. when they are charging you without you knowing it,.. that's a lie and cheat.Breakfast is free? Just think we are paying $15,20 or more for a crappy non elevator hotel with nasty attitude of an owner.

I would recommend Camellia 6 to anyone visiting the Old Quarter in Hanoi. The owners are Honest and they offer a free, simple, yet good breakfast is a great in the start in the morning. They also offer some tours that might be worth checking out. I personally never went on one, but when I was there people seemed satisfied. Hope this helps anyone in need of a comfortable place to stay.

Having just moved to Hanoi I found the reviews on Camellia 6 and booked.
I was very comfortable indeed, it was so central and it was great to be able to communicate in English. I needed a plug fixed and that was done while having my breakfast, a shirt was ironed for me down the alley and this was done with a smile and no charge!
They were most helpful in finding me alternative accommodation to start a new chapter in Hanoi. Thank you Camellia 6.

When I first came to Hanoi over a month ago, this is where I stayed. The owners were very accommodating. I felt very welcomed and they did everything they could to help me with my stay in Hanoi and didn't complain at all. Of course I'm not a very demanding person, I'm rather simple so I never asked too much of them but whatever I needed they took care of it no problem.
The room I had was pretty small but just fine for me as I don't need much room. I'm used to smaller rooms. A bed and a bathroom and I'm all good.
I stayed here about 5 days. I was planning on staying a bit longer but I because I didn't know how long I was staying, I just told them I'd be here for 5 days. My mistake. They had to move me from that hotel to the other hotel at 12c Chan Cam. And this is when I knew they cared more about my being happy than making more money. They moved me into a $20 a night room at the same rate of $15 a night that I was paying at the other hotel! Good people.
After staying at the 12c Chan Cam location for over a month, I've just moved into my own apartment. My experience with these two Camellia hotels were great. Very nice staff and the owners truly do what they set out to do, make their guests feel like family.
Even though I'm no longer with them, the hotel owners are still helpful and good friends. If sometime in the future I need to rent a hotel for a few nights, maybe when I leave and come back to Hanoi, I'll be coming back to one of these hotels, no doubt about it.
Since this review is comprised of both hotels, I'll be writing this same review for the other hotel.
