I think this place and the way it works is a great idea. They have a lot of programs to help the students who are learning German. They also support a lot of activities to exchange culture and language. Weekly, they have special interesting events such as films, lectures, concerts...most of them free for students and others. You don't often see many good quality free things like that around here.

I like this place. They are trying their best to help students who are learning German, plus they usually give you free tickets for movies,concerts...I have been to Opera house several times thanks to them.

We've just made a show there. The reason is that Goethe institut is the few best good art exhibiting space in Hanoi.Especially for young contemporary artists in Vietnam, Goethe insitut is really a place to strive set their art show there.

I haven't been to anything at the actual Goethe itself for quite a while now, however I did recently attend a contemporary dance performance (Mot Ngay/ One Day) sponsored in part by them. The performance was BRILLIANT, and this is something I've come to expect from the Goethe- great support for the arts- and some really interesting, cutting edge Viet & European art at that- something often sorely lacking in Viet Nam.

Only down side: the on-site gallery space is TINY, however for larger exhibitions they have often arranged outside venues. They also catalogue their shows in English and Vietnamese- making this institute infinitely more accessible than their French counterpart, L'Espace.
