In a word, awesome. I honestly don\'t know what I would do if this website didn\'t exist. A wealth of information that is unparalleled to anything I have seen in many other Asian cities. Downsides? Somewhat strict and counter-intuitive rules regarding posting questions. That and a pool of smug us...

Had a very pleasant dinner for 9 people there last night. The restaurant is cozy and they gave us the whole second floor! The food was delicious especially the Tom Yum seafood. My heart was set on eating the Thai style bbq chicken, but they were sold out!!! As a Thai person I find the food to be delicious and authentic! (although my own cooking is of course better). I definitely recommend this place to get your Thai fix! or just come to my house!;)

This is my favourite Thai restaurant in town. (To me 3 stars means I liked it enough to come back often, but not every week)

The owners are Thai, and they spend most of their time at the restaurant, ensuring the food is cooked the way they want it to be cooked. (As well, the owners lived for a long time in Saigon, and speak Vietnamese fluently, so they have no trouble explaining to the cooks how to prepare the food).

The restaurant is intimate: downstairs seats about 20 when full; upstairs about 30, so the cooks can concentrate on cooking the food well for all the patrons. When I've gone, only a few people other have been there, so we received excellent attention and service.

It's clean and inoffensively decorated. They have Singha Beer, Chang Beer and Cheers Beer.

I'm surprised by the mediocre reviews Con voi Thai has received. I love Thai food. My wife is Thai, and she's a really good cook, having learned at her mother's side in Bangkok. But the moo prik king at Con voi Thai is way better than hers! (Sorry, dear.) Whenever I'm craving spice, this is the first place I think of in Hanoi.

Authentic is probably one of the main descriptions that I would give this restaurant. Once in a while, I grow tired of the usual Vietnamese fare, and this is the closest it will ever get to good Thai cooking here in Hanoi. Just how I would remember it when I used to live in Bangkok.
