In a word, awesome. I honestly don\'t know what I would do if this website didn\'t exist. A wealth of information that is unparalleled to anything I have seen in many other Asian cities. Downsides? Somewhat strict and counter-intuitive rules regarding posting questions. That and a pool of smug us...

This place is mainly a Korean BBQ joint, with some sushi tacked onto the menu for a bit of variation. They have just recently opened their downstairs area, which has a sushi-train-esque conveyer belt. This is priced at an all you can eat option, whereas upstairs is by the plate. I reckon downstairs is better value, myself.

There are heaps of staff in the place, that's because they do all the cooking, and change the hotplate grills regularly.

Sochu has a surprisingly different selection of beers, some I haven't seen elsewhere, like Fuller's London Pride.

The sushi is reasonable, and the wasabi has a real kick to it, unlike quite a few other places I've been to. But the main focus of the food is the BBQ. All of the meat is pretty tender, the rabbit and frog are both great, the ostrich has been good but not great. But my favourite dish of all is the beef wrapped around cheese. It's not so great when its being cooked, as you often get a stinky burning milk smell, but it tastes great, they've picked a nice sharp, bitey cheese that compliments the beef really well. And they have a great plum-based dipping sauce, we normally need multiple refills as we slather it on everything.

One other appealing thing about Sochu is they have a ballpit. When we first started going, the balls were rather hard plastic, and kids being kids, they loved pelting them. I guess they've woken up to the violence angle, and swapped them for softer plastic balls. But don't worry, there's still plenty of ways to get tears in there. The ball pit is completely encased in glass, and its not that huge, so you can get some vicious rebounds going on. There's also a wooden bench just above the height of the balls around three sides of the pit, allowing for cool jumps into the balls, onto other kids, and allowing people falling backwards to smack their heads on it. The balls are deep enough that a toddler can be completely covered, and so you can unwittingly step on them. Most of the time, neither parents or staff seem particularly concerned about watching the antics going on in there, but that makes it even more appealing! I once went in myself, taking my three year old nephew in as protective camouflage (not that I thought I needed it, I was more than happy jumping around in there, at least until some bigger kids came) and I had a great time. So do the kids, especially the ones who aren't the target of the moment. Some of them had so much fun they throw up, which is often a sign that something is so good that you do it beyond the point when you should stop.

Sochu is a solid five stars. Downstairs due to the unlimited yummy food, and upstairs because of the gladiatorial ballpit. They have large screen projectors often showing sports upstairs, but they're often less enthralling than barely supervised kids with projectiles and ledges.

We accidentally discovered this place off Lang Ha and decided to try it out for dinner. It was a pleasant surprise.

The downstairs area is closed – for renovation, as it seems. So, after a short walk in the darkness around piles of construction material we were retrieved by a member of staff and escorted upstairs. The room was packed with people, but it immediately struck us as clean and tastefully decorated. We also immediately noticed the ballpit, so carefully described by the previous reviewer, but as there were only four seemingly well-behaved kids playing there, we decided to stay.

The staff was very polite and helpful. After browsing the Vietnamese menu several times, we settled on beef barbecue and grilled shrimp with some steamed vegetables. The food looked extremely fresh (the portion of rice paper even came in a sealed pack) and did not disappoint us. The waitress took good care of the grill and the drinks.

The place is quite pricey, but for a good reason. We will definitely return; this time with a dictionary. The only complaint is that their vast menu does not have an English translation.
