After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews of this place, I decided to see what the fuss was about.

Expecting a lengthy wait, I called at around 6:30pm and placed my order. Dieu informed me that my food would arrive in around 90 minutes. After 3 hours, my food finally rocked up.

To put this wait into perspective, I called, put the interminable 1995 gangster flick 'Casino' on, took numerous tea breaks, and the film still finished before my food turned up.

Having said that, the food was pretty good. Not outstanding, as others have stated, but nice.

I don't want to slate a new, family-run business, but the delivery time has to be addressed if they are to continue to flourish. I wish them luck.

I would like to third the positive review below. I am incapable of cooking anything at all (is there such a thing as severe culinary dyslexia?) and due to this terrible affliction I have eaten here at least twice a week since it opened. The food is tasty, the staff are just gorgeous and the prices for Westlake are reasonable (mains from 30 - 80K). Not quite five stars as the beer is not always cold - it pays to ask which beer is cold before ordering if you care about these things - and they don’t always have everything available but overall it is a great little place.

Hanoifoodcritic – you have some amazing talents and I fear your energies are wasted in food criticizing. You really should be doing something that involves your phenomenal social skills. To have been in Hanoi only 24 days so far and to have gotten to know all 35 previous reviewers of this place well enough to know that they are ALL ‘personal friends of the owner or her employees’ is a remarkable and quite frankly, enviable achievement.

Ordered from here the other night, direct from Dieu who explained that she was quite busy so we might have to wait for a while. That's no problem - we weren't hungry yet and were happy to wait to try a new service.
Well she was right, we did have to wait quite some time but when she finally arrived (yes Dieu does all the delivering herself at the moment) we were greeted with an incredibly smiley bubbly explanation of why it took so long. Dieu is so sweet and passionate about her cooking (she doesn't want anyone else to do it, she believes in quality and is insistent on cooking everything herself!) that we couldnt be remotely upset at waiting so long!
We did suggest that as she becomes more known via this site, she may need to hire some staff as it may slow business down! Of course, she will but right now she has only been going for 2 weeks and is keen to meet all her new clients too - fair enough.
As for the food - worth the wait. Very fresh, beautifully cooked, incredibly tasty and such a delight to taste good Vietnamese food without MSG or grease. Especially loved the tofu with tomato. Real home cooked fresh food.
Later I got a message from her checking up on the food and once again apologizing for the delay. Pretty good personal service nhe?
So I definitely recommend Dieu's cuisine but perhaps remember to be patient or order early until she expands! It is worth it.

For the first time since moving to Hanoi I gave in and ordered home delivered food. Having previously emailed with Dieu about their service, I had already established that since I live so far from Tay Ho there would be a delivery fee.

Two things impress me with Dieu's Cuisine:

1. The communication, follow-up and service is amazing. I actually felt like a customer. I text messaged my order, had it confirmed (along with the delivery fee). I received a text a little while later to say my food was on the way. Shortly it arrived. I received another text to check everything was OK. This is good service and sets Dieu apart, I suspect, from other home delivery services.

2. The food is really delicious. I order spring rolls, sweet & sour pork and fried rice. The portions were huge, much more than I was expecting so I know to order less next time. But, it arrived still warm and all tasted just fine (the fried rice is downright addictive!) and made for an enjoyable meal while watching a dvd at home.

This is a service I will use again when I give in or just feel plain lazy. Well done Dieu for filling a niche in the market so well.

Update June 2011
Today our 2HU group gathered at what is fast becoming the hottest Vietnamese restaurant anywhere in Hanoi - Dieu's Cuisine.

Having booked ahead we had a nice long table reserved upstairs in the dining room. Which is a beautifully decorated space, with comfort and class. Understated elegance is how I would describe it.

We enjoyed a fantastic lunch, sampling a large portion of the excellent menu and sharing dishes between us. We over ordered, but frankly, it was worth it. Everything we ate was of the highest standard - delicious food, well presented and true to menu.

Dieu's team are a delight to receive service from - we could not have been happier. Dieu - you are a star and we all truly appreciate your hosting of our group today!

I ordered here for the first time based on the number of very good reviews this place has received.
The pork Loin sweet and sour was great. Pork was the traditional meat/fat/meat Vietnamese chunks.
The winter garden salad was well prepared and good.
It's hard to get bad spring rolls in Vietnam, and these are no exception. Very nice.
The coconut rice was good.
Everything was packed very well and priced decently.
I received a message when the driver left the restuarant, and an SMS today asking for feedback. I appreciate this kind of service greatly.
The wait time, like with other reviewers was definitely excessive, but I'll put this down to being a new business, as the owner certainly didn't strike me as being lazy.
Well definitely order from here again.
