I have now been working for E-connect for 2 months and have never been made more welcome by a company. I understand that in the past, mistakes have been made. This is only down to lack of experience and things getting too big too fast. The effort that has now been put into making the whole company as professional as possible is second to none. I have contacted many existing members of staff and none of them have ever been underpaid, as stated by the the previous reviewer. The new branches are all completely refurbished and modern. The teacher contract and it's many many benefits would be hard to beat and I can say that with 8 years teaching experience in many different countries. what i will say to any teachers looking for a comfortable, steady contract with a full course provided for all classes, is to come and have a look for yourselves and then make up your own minds and to not only believe a review written by somebody who may or may not have had a problem in the past.

Avoid this company. They frequently don’t pay Vietnamese staff and western staff full wages if any. Conditions of housing are not as pictured. Many rats and cockroaches about, (not a few, but a full infestations). When we asked owners to resolved this either by purchasing traps or calling an exterminator, the director informed us that the cost of traps would come out of the Vietnamese’s wages who do not reside in the building. Absolutely disgusting.

Furthermore, the accommodations have little to no privacy being above and below classrooms. Students will often accidently or on purpose find their way into your room. Showers and bathrooms are communal, with no toilet seats or properly locking doors.

The company as a whole is disorganized with no actual guidance being given to teachers. No provided resources and company demands that you purchase a computer. Teaching schedules are obviously mashed together in very little time with no thought. They are absolutely chaotic, often causing mass confusion among the teachers.

I had a stressful, but thankfully limited experience with e-connect. Things started off badly. The provided housing located above and behind the office is anything but ideal. No privacy and very noisy. I’ve been teaching in Asia for a few years and cockroaches and rats are common, but our building was filled with them. Doors have chewed holes and packs of rats were regularly spotted in the kitchen and bathrooms. The shared bathrooms were dismal. Toilets with no seats, we had a single working shower with warm water for 10 people located on the same floor as a classroom. It was a bad joke.

Everything about them was haphazard. The evening after arriving in Vietnam, I was teaching classes. I was provided with no instruction, expectations, or even a simple guide. I had a full schedule my first week. They just have a pretty disorganized way of doing things. With the exception of a single teacher, no one was interested in explaining the text books despite repeated requests. The only feedback received was after an observation. It basically consisted of negative comments about my teaching. When I asked the observing manager what to change, he just questioned my experience as a teacher. Then proceeded to tell me I must not have experience in classrooms.

The office staff and teachers were obviously tense. There were ongoing problems with receiving pay on time or the full contracted amounts as promised. Don’t get me wrong, the staff and teachers were extremely friendly, but obviously distracted. The schedules were chaotic and the other teachers and myself received little support or help.

The lack professionalism was overwhelming among management. When The director threatened teachers with police action for leaving and a $500 fine despite no contract ever being signed, this was the final straw for me. Avoid them. If an offer is too good to be true, it usually is.

They only care about your appearance. If you are white and good looking, you are the best teacher. Be careful with their contract if once they don't like you, they will kick your ass

I was due to start working with E-Connect a few months ago.

I could not find any online reviews, and my experience with this company was the worst I’ve had with an employer. I am an experienced TEFL teacher and would warn against working for E-Connect.

I was offered a small amount of money to not write this review. Not enough to cover my losses. I turned it down because I would rather prevent other potential teachers making the mistake I made than be paid off. So here goes:

After I had accepted the job and booked flights, they requested that I work at a different centre than the one I had applied for, giving me little choice as I had already booked everything. I found this unprofessional and inconsiderate.

In order to arrive in Vietnam to work for them, I needed a letter of arrangement from the Vietnamese Immigration Authority, which E-Connect said they would provide. They submitted the paperwork late, so the letter arrived too late. I was denied entry to my flight.

I understand that these things happen, and we could have fixed this. But the staff members I spoke to, who were high up in the company (the Assistant Director of the company and the Head of Recruiting), had incredibly poor communication skills and crisis management skills, meaning I was in the airport for six hours with very little actual support. They seemed to care more about whose fault it was than getting me into the country. I wanted nothing more than to get to Vietnam at this point, and was making suggestions. But after six hours of trying to work the issue out with them, I left and turned down the job. I feel still working for them after what had happened would have been a mistake.

This meant, as I had moved out of my apartment and quit my job, I was literally homeless and unemployed. I had also suffered losses by booking flights I never took, hotels I wouldn’t have had to stay in, and so on, in order to work for them.

I wrote to the CEO and asked for the company to reimburse some of my losses, but when I finally got a response, she directly blamed me for what happened. Apparently I was supposed to know the visa arrangements better than the company, and inform them of this.

It’s possible the company could be good, and I can’t vouch for what it’s like to actually work for them. However, in my opinion, if a company can’t even get you into the country, it’s not worth the risk.

After the crisis management, communication, organisation, etc., I witnessed I can’t help but feel the company would not have been good even if I had managed to get into the company. These skills are essential in running a school and being a good employer, after all.

If you do accept a job with them, best of luck.
