West Lake housing were a pleasure to deal with! Their staff speak great English & are always there to help when needed. They found me a fantastic apartment that met all my requirements. I couldn't recommend them enough!

Five months ago I wrote a scathing review about the dine-in service and quality at Tandoor. Now, I am a forgiving person and, after feeling like a bit of a curry fix this evening, decided to give them another go, and see if anything had improved.

Well, I can say the food was tastier than last time, which is why the review has gone from 1 to 2 stars. That, however, is where the compliment ends. First, it took them over an hour on a Thursday to deliver two vegetarian dishes, some rice, a garlic naan and some puffs, when I called just before 6pm, so I can't see the citizens of Hanoi beating down the door for service that early - I have been in the restaurant at 6pm, and it's a ghost town.

OK, I can look past that, I suppose. Again. The thing that really cuts me to the quick is their nerve to charge me a delivery fee! The delivery man (who had no change, by the way), pointed it out to me, handwritten at the bottom of my receipt - a hefty 20,000vnd for delivery. When I inquired about it, I was told that I am more than 5km away. Now, besides the fact that I am NOT 5km away, by any stretch of the imagination, their printed menu says "Minimum order for delivery is 100,000vnd." Since I was ordering more than 100,000vnd, what's the problem? No, they are just looking for a way to scab some extra money for the service, without informing me until they came to the door. I was not impressed. Tell me there is a delivery fee, and if I want to pay it, I will pay it. Don't rip me off. You make me angry when you rip me off.

Not happy, particularly when I opened the meal to find that the portions, especially of the naan, were less than good value. Gee, that's unusual for Tandoor... NOT!

Again, I will say the food was tasty, but that's it. It's a shame that everything else they do is so pathetic. It's always about the service here. It's rubbish. Why do they think we are all so stupid? I am always in a quandry as to whether to order or eat here again or not, but it seems that, every time I give them another go, they give me a reason to avoid them for another 6 months.

Look out for my next 1-2 star review in late 2011.

I had dinner at Tandoor while visiting Hanoi. Food was excellent and the service was very good (discreet but always ready to take an order).
The owner also came over for a chat and without intruding on my dinner, made me feel welcome immediately.
A good place to go for an Indian in Hanoi for sure.

Was Screamed at for not answering my phone when the delivery arrived. Was Screamed at again when i called back to inform them that they had written my phone number down incorrectly on the receipt they provided the delivery. F these guys...I paid 300,000 to be screamed at twice for their error.

Ordered from India Palace, was delivered by Tandoor...???

I have been here before but it was several months ago and the food and service was good but last night the mixed tandoori grill we were served which took an age to come was mostly cold and the chicken dried up, the only thing actually worthy of eating on the platter was the fish which was fresh, hot and tasty as we had been hoping the whole platter would be. The waiter even apologised for taking so long to serve us and put it down to the time needed to prepare and cook the Tandoori platter. Had this been served hot and fresh from the oven then we would have happily forgiven the slow service. There had been a large party in the back room and I suspect that we received a dish mostly made of of their left overs with only the fish cooked fresh. We complained to the waiter and he offered to warm it up, as the food was already dried out this would have only made the meal less appetising. The paratha and naan bread we ate was hot and good as was the Channa Masala but the poor effort on the main dish overshadowed that. We both live here and even though my dining companion knows the owner neither of us will be returning here any time soon if ever. On our way out one of the waitresses asked our waiter in Tieng Viet whether he had offered us a discount on our bill (which he hadn't) not knowing that my friend is quite fluent. I'm sure on another visit things might well be different but with Namaste just around the corner Tandoor need to lift their game to compete and I for one know where I will be going in future for my curry fix.

Never had a bad meal here. Always hit the spot and the Kingfisher beers are an added bonus. Service generally good so all the complaints posted are a tad harsh.
