A cup of tea?

I went on the sunset cocktail cruise last night and I am happy to say that it was a delight. What a fantastic way to spend the evening from 6 till 9. You get back in time to head out for a quick salsa dance at Cuba when you get back.
The boat itself is a very nice set-up. Tastefully decorated and 2 little VIP rooms on the lower deck with a chess set and a hookah. Looked very comfortable and intimate indeed!
We were greeted with a complimentary drink and lots of nice snacks that are veggie friendly too. And no, I have not gone to the dark side of vegetarianism, not yet anyway... Our host was extremely hospitable and was continually present to ensure our every need was taken care of.
The cruise did not last the full 3 hours but I am guessing it was because of the poor turn out of people. I was relaxing so much as the boat wound its way back up the river that I completely lost track of time which is a good indication of how good it was.
I would recommend everyone give it a try at least once. I think it would be great for a small group or party as they do charter.

A bunch of us went for a cruise here after work on Friday, and had a great time. It is a nice jaunt up and down the river, and has the added bonus of people going on the cruise being able to say that they have been to that filthy slime bucket Solace, without having to really go.

The welcoming drink is their signature one, the Cool Jewel, which has vodka, mint (lots of mint) and something else for body, which is a nice cleansing and refreshing way to start (even if you're not a big fan of mint. We had a few people not finishing theirs, but others bravely leapt forward to drain it to the dregs).

If you know you have friends that are coming but get a bit lost, they're willing to wait a while till they locate the boat, and then cast off. The view from the top deck is nice, and the breeze is pleasant. Indoors you can't really see the scenery rolling past, but their shisha and chess room are both laid out comfortably, and there were even people having a quiet kip in them as the rest of us enjoyed ourselves. Both these rooms are air conditioned, so if it’s a stinking hot day, it’s a good way to escape the heat. One minor problem with the boat is the only bar is downstairs, and they were a bit understaffed when we went to bring drinks to you upstairs, so those of us that had more booze hound than conversationalist in us tended to spend a chunk of the trip downstairs rather than up on deck, enjoying the evening lights. The stairs can also cause a bottleneck when there is a rush for the bar, especially if there is traffic going the other way, so it is a good idea to keep this in mind and time your runs carefully. Their BBQ trip may fix that problem, as the food would definitely help to keep you focused upstairs. The nibbles on the night cruise were good, but I'd suggest a better meal for lunch than I had, or you'll start considering which of your less combative or personable cruise-mates should be killed and eaten.

The volume of the music was just right, something pleasant to listen to when there's a lull in the conversation, but not too noisy to drown out what was being said at the other end of our group, if you wanted to put your two cents into that discussion. I can't remember what they played, but it was a good selection, not lift music or something obscure and catering to just one person.

I had a really enjoyable time, and will be heading back again, especially when I have visitors in town.

Very good place to chill out in fresh air after a busy day in Hanoi. Great atmosphere, nice decoration, the cruises are worth it.

Just got back from a "sunset cruise". Of course these things depend on who you are with, but regardless we had a great time chatting, eating nibbles, and cruising up and down the Red River. 180 000 vnd is worth the evening for the "venue", nibbles and welcome cocktail. I had a number of good margaritas for 55 000 vnd each - I think this was good value and certainly gave my evening some sparkle !. The toilets were way better than expected - I guess I was thinking yukky boat thunderbox or something, and I noticed a shisha pipe area set up , if that is of interest to you. A very nice night all round, and I would recommend this trip to anyone wishing to enjoy a nice social night out with friends. The trick for would be choosing nice weather and the time best of year to see the sunset. The staff were friendly and obliging. Well done Jewel of the Delta.
