First, I believe we should not expect Japanese food to be cheap, esp. cheap Japanese food in VN, since cheap price = cheap raw fish/insanitary = high risk of stomachache/food poisoned. Hehe...
Second, if anybody has been to Asahi Sushi, I think you must agree with me that not only the price at Khang is muuuch better, but the quality of the food there is fantastic.
Third, sometimes I'm so easily charmed by some very small things that can make me sound silly. But at Khang, they serve you fresh wasabi. It tastes sooooooo good... I haven't seen that served anywhere else in HN. Fresh wasabi loses its taste very fast though, like within 30 mins or so. So better finish it as fast as you can and ask for more if you need :D
Forth, everything there is fantastic! Sushi, sashimi, pancake, grilled fish, seaweed salad, etc. They're all fresh, nicely presented.
Fifth, service is good. Very friendly staff. Oh and I looooove the complimentary avocado ice cream there. They don't give exactly the same complimentary dish everyday though. Sometimes it's fruit or other kind of ice cream, so don't fail me if they don't give you my fav. ice cream when you eat there :)))
Yes the pieces they make are too big for 1 bite, but it also means the actual dishes are always bigger than their pictures in the menu, so well, I'm not complaining :)))
Some very little flaws don't make me take away any star for this restaurant, esp. when people seem to not know much about it. It def. is worth a try :)
Price should be rank from 250 - 350k/person though.
This restaurant is very close to my office. I have been eating lunch here a few times a month for the last year or so and can't fault the cleanliness, service, food or price. There are two menus here, a set menu, with some meal deals including 2 dishes (one rice one noodle) for 147000, and an a la carte (more expensive but still good value for quality japanese food). You also get complimentary hot or cold green tea and desert (normally ice cream or fruit). The number of japanese business types in here at lunch time suggest that this place is the real deal. Book if you want to eat lunch in the upstairs booths or private rooms. There is Bar style seating downstairs where mainly individuals or couples dine. Khang is definately in my top 5 for Hanoi restaurants, and I like my food.
We couldn't choose in all menu because of the price of each dish!
We were surprised to see our japanese neighbors eat a lot. We didn't understand how they can pay. After few minutes we saw that the menu in japanese was not the same that in English...and the prices were different. Scandalous! So we eat one dish and one drink for 450 000dong/pax. Some others japanese restaurant are really cheaper for the same quality.
Great service & good set up with private booth. I especially like the cleanness of this place, which makes you forget you are in Vietnam.
Maybe this was an unlucky day for me, but I ordered the "Tekka-don" (tuna) and the meat was really spongy. I could have been the supplier's fault for not properly handling the fish after it was caught - the pros would probably know what this is about.
This is a fairly new Japanese restaurant that is fairly top end so it will not appeal to everyone. I was invited here to have dinner so as I did not have to pay I am not exactly sure about the exact cost but I am sure that you can judge from yourself that it won't be cheap!
Service is really second to none and you can choose to ring the bell in your booth or you can just tap the glass and they will come running faster than anything you have seen.
Sushi was awesome, sashimi was fantastic and the eel was divine. They even have their own little tissues at reception so grab a packet as you leave. Worth the splurge if you are up for it.
