“I wish I had found this place years ago, back before I spent many thousands on fillings and root canals(in Austaralia) that have since started falling out. I went here for the first time after chomping on a bone/stone in a bowl of pho, losing two fillings. I was in a fair bit of pain, I had lef...”
Great food every time!
The lunch sets are wonderful and quality is always fresh
This is great sushi place with decent quality and great balance of quality and price in Tay Ho. I love to have lunches from them, portions are quite big, so 1 lunch we eat 2 of us.
This is probably my favourite sushi restaurant in Hanoi.
The service is great, the sushi is delicious, and the prices are pretty cheap. The eel nigiri (my favourite) melts away in your mouth, heaven!
Sushi Dokoro has an extensive lunch menu in the typical "set menu" style common in Japan. Don't be deceived by the name, SD covers all the bases besides sushi, agemono (fried), yakimono (grilled), noodle, Japanese-style curries, and Japanese-Western. Everything on the lunch menu sits comfortable between USD6-10. I went for the kaisen don (sashimi rice bowl) set which was served with miso soup, chawan mushi (egg custard dish), simmered pumpkin, and pickled daikon. Everything was presented with care and a "light hand". The rice was appropriately vinegared and nothing was drowning in oil, moisture or saltiness. The kaisen don was reasonably generous and topped off with ikura (salmon roe). My only complaint would be that the shoyu (soy sauce) on the counter is not suitable for sashimi or sushi. On the standards observed, I'm sure a milder shoyu is available if you ask.
A steady stream of Japanese customers (businesspeople, couples, and families) came in so it seems SD gets the vote among the local Japanese community. Some staff speak excellent Japanese and will make an effort to greet and serve in English.
The staff was so friendly! They seemed to be so happy to see foreigners in their restaurant because there are a lot of japanese people (good sign, isn't it?)
15$/pax for a beer and 3 different dishes that we shared. At the end, the cooker came to be sure that we liked. Moreover they offered a sup and fruits at the end of the diner. The quality of fishes are excellent.
