“Hanoi, the political capital of Vietnam, is located in the Red River Delta and is also an important cultural centre with many aspiring young artists making the city into one of the most visually appealing places in Vietnam! The city is an eclectic mixture of colonial Parisian grandeur and time...”
Great food, friendly and efficient waiters. Cheap for what it is. Quiet location. And it is possible to play "pétanque" !
A garden restaurant without fuss. The food menu offers a decent selection. The drinks are average priced, maybe even cheaper than many bars around. The place itself is just great, a lot of space, beautiful trees. Again no fuss but the essential is here. They recently started to serve Sapporo beer, which is nice.
Slightly off the beaten track, Chez Xuan is a lovely ambient spot, with great food, and a nice big garden. Very popular with French expats, who play petanque here, they serve a good selection of meats and fish, which come served on hot stones, and you grill yourself. The price is also very reasonable - you get bread, salad and a choice of vegetables, mashed potato or french fries for about 200.000 dong. The downsides is that for such a beautiful spot, there aren't many people (unless you come on one of the nights where they're having a concert), and the staff haven't quite mastered the knack of serving everyone's meal at once. Still, the food and garden more than make up for it.
Fantastic and well presented food with a reasonable price. They do all sorts of grill in front of you(well, you're doing that by yourself), they have crocodile on grill, they have a delicious tuna carpaccio. And other western food.
When there are some events with loads of people it's pretty difficult to get something from the bar due to it's small size, but on usual days when it's quiet the service is fast.
The space is great. I like the bachi ball set-up. I also really like the draught beer with syrup.
They were out of the rib-eye so I ordered the salmon on the hot stone, which is good, but the rice and soup and shitty piece of bread was brought up too early and cooling off - an example of, not stupidity, more a lack of care, to do something well, something right, which is unfortunately, typical Hanoi.
Be like Southgate, care about the details.
Not ordering food at Chez Xuan anymore.
